What is an Employee Assistance Program?

An Employee Assistance Program, EAP, provides confidential, professional Mental Health counseling & assistance to employees experiencing difficulties or challenges on the job (or in their personal life) as a result of problems such as substance abuse, depression, anxiety, mental-emotional functioning, etc. These problems often interfere with employee performance & productivity on the job, costing the company & employee money, energy and productivity below acceptable standards.

We build our Employee Assistance Programs around the needs of our clients. Costs are minimal, as low as $1.00 to $3.00 per employee and costs can be covered by the employer, or by the employee, or split between the two due to the fact that it is beneficial for both parties.

Referrals can be made by supervisors or employees are able to refer themselves.

How often do employees use EAP's services on an average basis?

It depends on a variety of variables such as appropriate promotion and the services that are offered. Monthly, quarterly and annual reports are available to companies utilizing our EAP program.

If you take the minimal cost to the company and compare it with the costs associated with training new employees or the expenses associated with laying off troubled employees the result would be fairly obvious.

What training is provided to supervisors, employees & upper management?

Comprehensive training is provided on an as needed basis to make sure that your entire management team is fully trained and equipped to utilize your Employee Assistance Program.

Who pays for the cost of the EAP services? What about the services past what the EAP provides?

EAP sessions are inclusive of the minimal dollar amount paid each month. The amount of EAP sessions depends on the contract but usually are either 3, 5, or 8. Once all of the sessions have been used, the employee can be referred to other company benefits such as managed care.

All of our EAP providers are Masters Level and/or State Licensed.

How is confidentiality maintained?

Client information is owned and maintained off site by Trinity Harbor. Data provided in reports or in the form of numbers, not names.

How does information get relayed to the company/supervisor? What information is provided?

In regards to employees referred to your EAP, general information is provided to the supervisor regarding the attendance of the employee and if they are being compliant with achieving their goals and objectives.
