Brief Solution Therapy for Individuals, Groups & Families
Treatment of everyday problems is more often referred to as counseling but the term is sometimes used interchangeably with " psychotherapy ". Psychotherapy is a wide range of techniques which use only dialog and communication and which are designed to improve the mental health of a client or patient, or to improve group relationships (such as in a family). Most forms of psychotherapy use only spoken conversation, though some also use various other forms of communication such as the written word, art work or touch. Commonly psychotherapy involves a therapist and client(s) — and in family therapy several family members or even other members from their social network — who discuss their issues in an effort to discover underlying problems and to find constructive solutions.

Crisis Intervention
Tragedies, deaths, serious injuries, hostage situations, threatening situations - these events are known as "Critical Incidents." Sometimes an event is so traumatic or overwhelming that those who witness it or know someone involved may experience significant stress reactions. The Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) process is specifically designed to prevent or mitigate the development of post-traumatic stress among those involved. Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) represents an integrated "system" of interventions which is designed to prevent and/or mitigate the adverse psychological reactions caused by crisis. CISM interventions are especially directed towards the mitigation of post-traumatic stress reactions.
